Hyatt Regency Shenzhen Airport                                                 Updated Jan 2020
A new hotel, not to be confused with the other Hyatt brands found around the Shenzhen Airport terminal area.
Location: *** Directly opposite the new terminal
Spotting: *** Ask for a runway view room, ideally on floors 10-11 which should give you a view of the runway 34 threshold area and around half of the runway. The expensive suite rooms are reported to have access to a private rooftop garden area with views of the action.

Airport facing rooms are be booked as an option on the Booking.com site

Photos: * No reports available however in theory, great landing shots should be viable during the morning if Runway 34 is in use for landings.
Value: * Unknown at this time but as a high class hotel, this is likely to be expensive.

Hyatt Place Shenzhen Airport         Last Update 2019

Terminal facing rooms are not suitable at this hotel as the views are obstructed by the large terminal building. Rooms facing south are needed which gives an outlook onto the busy overnight parking stands as well as the freight area (traffic parks tail on here so cannot be identified until push back). The south facing rooms also have a view of movements onto the Eastern of the parallel runways. Rooms to ask for end in **01,**02,**03,**05 and **07 from the 7th floor upwards.

When the wind is from the north these rooms are excellent. Departures can be seen off the Easterly runway and arrivals on the West runway are also seen. Things are more restrictive on South operations where only traffic off the departure runway can be seen when climbing out.

The elevators all appear to have nearby windows with restricted views towards the terminals. Landing traffic can be briefly seen between gaps in office buildings. The majority of the executive apron can also be seen from these windows with around half of the aircraft readable with a good telescope.

Sunway Airport Hotel
Ask for a room that is an even number (from 16-32) on the third floor or higher for the best views-the hotel has 10 floors. (note 714 has reported obstructed views from buildings so it may be worth giving rooms in the 14 range a miss). From here you will have views of northern part of the runway. Make sure you have a telescope or a good pair of binoculars with you, as the views of the far runway are quite distant. Reports suggest that in the afternoon the position of the sun can make reading aircraft off somewhat more difficult. Expect to read aircraft off easier in the morning and even at night. The hotel has its own western type sports bar that serves food, and also a coffee shop catering for both Chinese and western tastes!
Location: *** Was directly opposite the terminal building, however this terminal building has now closed and has been replaced by another terminal across the airfield. Views are now therefore limited to the runway movements  described above.
Spotting: *** Make sure you try and get one of the room described above (the higher the floor the better). Rooms 728 and 924 has confirmed views.
Photos: * No reports available.
Value: *** This hotel is exceptional value at just £25 per night for a twin room at weekends.
