Location ** A 2 mile journey to the central terminal area by shuttle bus. An extra bonus of this hotel is the airport shuttle bus will also take you to La Guardia, check with the hotel for times. On a clear day traffic flying from Philidelphia and Washington can be seen clearly overflying the hotel at high level for those with a SBS.

Spotting ** Good, but sometimes distant views from the hotel. A good telescope will give you more of a chance to read aircraft off although ACARS/SBS would make things a lot easier! Ask for an airport facing room as high as possible. Room 1228 gives good views, photos shown below. With the use of SBS our correspondent identifies every aircraft during the day. If you are in a group we recommend that one of the groups book a room facing away from the airport. From these rooms distant views of arrivals can be seen into La Guardia Airport.

Spotting ** If you are lucky and traffic is landing on RW13L the inbounds pass at low level over the hotel. A short walk from the hotel brings you to a grass bank which gives good views of the inbounds if they are on this runway.

Photos ** If luck is on your side good photos can be taken from the above grass banking area but RW13L has to be the runway in use.

Spotting *** Excellent views from the selected rooms below. Great views can be had of the full length of runway 04/22 and 11/29. Due to the angle of the hotel it is important that you get the correct rooms. The best reported room is 1050 on the top floor. Other excellent rooms are 832/932 and 1032 although any even ending room no higher than 50 should be ok.

Spotting ** Ask for a high level room facing the airport and try to get one on the right hand end of the hotel as it would be if you were in the room. A room in this area will give you a distant view of the non Continental piers and also the UPS apron. One of the taxiways is also visible but you need a pair of 20x binoculars to have a lot of success.

Spotting ** On short finals to runway 22R. Many rooms look out to the approach of runway 22L, if you get one of these rooms you dont miss a thing. When it is quiet the odd arrival creeps in on RW22R which brings them in directly over the top of the hotel.

Photos *** Mid afternoon onwards gives you the chance to take great landing shots on RW22L from the hotel.

Spotting *** Ask for a high level room overlooking the airport. From here you will see about half of the terminal gates and also runway 13 enabling 80% of the movements to be read off. Room 829 is recommended.

The Courtyard New York LaGuardia Airport Hotel is situated directly opposite the terminal building and is linked by a complimentary shuttle bus. Reports suggest that any room in the range of 617 to 628 (both odd and even numbers) offer excellent views of all the action. There may be other rooms as well that offer such good views. Everything can be logged from these rooms with little or no problems. The only problem occurs if the aircraft arrive and depart on runway 31.

Location *** Excellent. Directly opposite the terminal.

Spotting *** Logging all the movements won't be a problem if you get one of the rooms mentioned above.

Location ** Nearby to the airfield boundry. The hotel also has a courtesy shuttle bus that will take you take you to the bus stops to take you back to New York City.

Spotting ** Great views when landing on runway 14. Many inbounds to Newark can also be read off as they pass overhead. Ask for a high level room facing Manhattan and you will see most of the action.
