Plane Spotting Corfu

The Corfu Holiday Palace Hotel    Last Update Dec 2019
is found around 1000m across the bay from the threshold of Runway 35 and probably offers the best views of any of the nearby hotels.
Location: *** Excellent location, ask for a lake side room on the 5th floor or above and you will get great views over the airport as shown in the video below.
Spotting: *** From a high level odd numbered lake side room you will see everything on the airport when it moves. Rooms ending in *03-*29 give the best views. Odd rooms from *31 upwards still give views but trees block part of the runway and the bizz jet apron on the far side.

Subject to heat haze all aircraft parked up on the main apron can be read with a good telescope.

Photos: *** Some great shots can be had from this location.
Value: ** Single rooms start from around £90 per night in peak season.
Book: The hotel can be booked directly on the site of   Booking.com

The Divani Corfu Palace
is found in the resort of Kanoni just 1.5 km form Corfu Airport. Ask for a bay side view when booking this hotel as this will give you a fantastic view over the whole of the airport. Ideally, you need a room on the 5th floor or higher ending in a odd number to ensure a good view. The resort of Kanoni is described as a pretty residential area on the outskirts of the Corfu capital and just 5 minutes drive to Corfu Town. It also describes the hotel as liable to suffer from aircraft noise!
Location: *** Being just to the right of the final approach at about 1 mile this hotel is very ideally located.
Spotting: *** You won’t miss much here from this hotel. Runway 35 tends to be favoured for landings and runway 17 for departures, although this won’t matter too much being so close to the airport.
Photos: ** Good photo opportunities are available with interesting foregrounds (water) and backgrounds (hills). Just use caution and remember you are in Greece.
Value: ** Prices will vary depending on when you travel. In May expect to pay about £320 and in August upto £540. These prices include flights and half board accommodation.
Book: The hotel can be booked directly on the site of   Booking.com

The Royal Grand Hotel (formally Royal Boutique Hotel)
Having been closed for a while this popular hotel has now reopened giving great views over the airport. Reviews advise that the hotel is quite basic, however for the views which it gives this can be lived with!
Location: *** Excellent location for viewing the airport activity.
Spotting: *** Ask for a high level room with balcony overlooking the runway and you will have excellent views of the action.
Photos: *** Some great shots can be had from this location, although mornings are by far the best as the sun moves around during the afternoon.
Value: *** Single rooms start from around £40 per night so great value. Trip Report Credit :  spotter-cgn.de

What a view from the bar area. Runway facing rooms give a similar view.  Credit  Tripadvisor   Credit  Tripadvisor
