Plane Spotting Houston

Marriott Houston IAH Airport
is located in the centre of the airport complex and is just a short walk from the terminals. Ask for a room on a high floor overlooking the airport. One side of the hotel faces the Embraer stands and the other side faces the main Continental Airlines stands. The Federal Express aircraft parked on the cargo apron can be read off from the end of the corridor. The General Aviation ramp is too far away to read anything off although they do taxi past during the day.
Location: *** Very convenient, centrally located and connected to the terminals by an underground tram service.
Spotting: *** This is a very good place to go to make an impression on your Continental Airlines fleet. You should not be disappointed!

Trip Report from Conrad Clitheroe :

Hi, I stayed in the Marriott in room on 8th floor facing the East. It would definitely be easier to have a room facing West.

For nearly the whole time they we landing from the West on the 2 parallel runways. Most aircraft could be seen as they taxied off but not all of the EMB145/170′s. They were taking off on the North/South runway for most of the time which was completely out of sight although when the clouds lifted it was possible to see some banking round to the left. They did for a short time use the southern most West/East runway which meant they taxied past the bedroom window. When we came back to the room after eating in the bar in the evening they were landing towards us on both parallel East/West runways for a short time, so they really like to mix it up. Room was very comfortable and probably one of the best beds i have ever slept in. No chair to sit on by the window though and you couldnt see the landings if you didnt stay by the window so had to stand most of time. Was very busy most of the time and as i hadnt been before needed nearly everything so there was no rest for me. All in all a nice hotel and great for United Airlines plus a few others thrown in
